CRITICAL INVESTIGATION

My main focus for my critical investigation is a huge issue in modern society. The concern is teenage crime in general, this relates to many issues such as gun crime, knife crime and teenage murder such as death by dangerous driving within the UK.
As part of my critical investigation this will include examples of teenage crime and statements which shows the behavior of teenagers and whether this has an impact on the related audience.

Primary sources:

Primary source is a document or physical object which was written or created during the time under study. These sources were present during an experience or time period and offer an inside view of a particular event. Some types of primary sources include:
• ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS (excerpts or translations acceptable): Diaries, speeches, manuscripts, letters, interviews, news film footage, autobiographies, official records
• CREATIVE WORKS: Poetry, drama, novels, music, art
• RELICS OR ARTIFACTS: Pottery, furniture, clothing, buildings

Kidult hood: This British drama follows a day in the lives of four poor youths living in an impoverished neighborhood in West London, where the pressure and desperation of poverty propels each of them towards the choice between a life of bleakness, violence, and crime, and the terrifying prospect of striving for a better life (associated with suicide, drugs, gun and knife crime)
Also including the sequel of adulthood, this relates to teenage crime and how they are portrayed in modern society, with all the violence within school and outside of school.

Secondary sources:
A secondary source interprets and analyzes primary sources. These sources are one or more steps removed from the event. Secondary sources may have pictures, quotes or graphics of primary sources in them. Some types of seconday sources include:

• PUBLICATIONS: Textbooks, magazine articles, histories, criticisms, commentaries, encyclopedias
A teenage driver who ran over two sisters who were also his cousins as they walked home from school was today jailed for four years.

Nathan Hennessey, 19, instantly killed 11-year-old Megan Hennessey and left her 16-year-old sister Sophie in a coma with life-threatening injuries when he hit them with his car as they were crossing the road.
The crash happened as the sisters made their way home from school in Thorne, South Yorkshire, on November 27, 2008.
Hennessey's driving was branded "aggressive" by Judge Peter Jones as he handed him the custodial sentence at Sheffield Crown Court.
The court heard how Hennessey originally denied a charge of death by dangerous driving but changed his plea to a guilty one just before going on trial at Don Caster Crown Court.

  4. well done for using relevant information to back up your main focus for the critical investigation....

www: well done for recognising the things that you need to do to get the information you would use when writing up your CI...things like interviews and autobiographies may help you when you need some background information about you CI

  5. Evidence of some thought and basic research into the chosen area of exploration. It would be helpful however to ensure that you identify how you might use the research.

ebi: vital to be really clear about the question or hypothesis you are exploring. I am uncertain quite what the purpose of the investigation is? I applaud the fact that you have listed such diverse artifacts as clothing, art and literature however, I was struggling to understand how they would be used.

I think clothing could be an interesting and though provoking angle to take on moral panics surrounding youth crime. Can you come up with a question which addresses this?

I also struggled to see the relevance of some of the news articles without them being contextualised SHEP. At A2 this will be your task.
